Where do I begin with this concert? It was great! Four excellent bands playing to a crowd of over 1300 people! God' Place can only hold 1500! The pit ruled! God was able to maintain order, and no serious injuries occured! Maintenence Man(the local and opening act) alone was able to throw the crowd into a frenzy! Cleetus(singer to M.M.) threw CD's and magazines into the pit! One of my friends got hit in the fourhead with one when he looked up! The lights flashed, the amps blared, the crowd roared, and this is the friggin' opening act!! After about a ten minute break from the noise and moshing,Maintenence Man quickly get off the stage and Puller came on. Now all my friends told me that Puller totally sucked,so I wasn't expecting much, but then,Puller came on! The crowd went into a frenzy, again, the band's amplifiers blared, again, and the noise encompassed everyone. It was like we were all in this great big bubble of noise! With a grinding rythm to accompany it, I'll have to say Puller, while not one of the best bands I've heard, still blew away all my expectations! It only seemed like a few seconds passed from the time Puller got off and Stavesacre got on. I had a little chat with Mark Saloman before the show, and I might include it in my interview section. It was pretty funny, but it did leave me mentally scarred. Stavesacre did however rock! Their hardcore sound impressed and re-frenzified the crowd! The last time I saw Stavesacre ironically, was with MxPx at God's Place about a year ago! Though I admit this concert ruled, the other concert with MxPx,Stavesacre and The C-Punx was even better! Stavesacre thrashed and trashed for about an hour-and-a-half,then, it was time for Magnified Plaid!! I'd only gotten to see them once before, and they weren't even my favorite band then. Now they are,and they ruled! MxPx played mainly new schtuff in their main show, but good ol' songs like Think Twice,Rainy Days, and Study Humans got played too. They really kicked butt! My favorite songs from Life In General sounded even better live(and L.I.G. is my fav. MxPx CD!) I was a little upset that cuz I was moshing I wasn't able to get a spot close to the stage, but they concert still rocked! But when everyone thought it was over, some guys started shouting "Punk Rawk Show!",I thought,"jeez, they're probably tired of this song so much, but,it don't seem like this show is done yet.."I shouted "encore!", not "Punk Rawk Show!" but when it almost seemed they wouldn't play Punk Rawk Show,or have an encore, they busted out and started thrashing out Dolores. After which they continued and played Punk Rawk Show, then, something amazing happened. I started to hear the bass intro to PxPx,my favorite song! Then, they played it! IT RAWKED!!!! Me and some other guys rushed the stage to sing along with the chorus"...POKINATCHA....PUNX!!",then,when it all ended,I got out of the way just in time to see nine or ten guys fall off the stage and land all over themselves! This concert rawked! If you can catch MxPx sometime, SEE THEM! POKINATCHA PUNX!!
-Bobo FettThe weather in Texas on April Twenty-Sixth was, to say the least, dreary. The sky was covered with clouds, the humidity was miserable, and a steady light, yet, miserable rainfall had been coming down all day long(and it wouldn't stop either). But there we were, about 150 punks, and fifty dumb jocks that wanted to start a bunch of fights. All of us were slowly being soaked by the drizzling rain, and we had gathered at this small community center on the outskirts of Arlington for a concert. A punk rawk concert. I can't remember all the bands that played, but there were lots of them. The first band I remember playing was Ed Banky's Car. They did about three or four songs that I didn't really pay attention to. I think the next band that played was Fido's Revenge(it might have been Self Serve). I hadn't heard Fido's Revenge before, but when I did finally hear them,I was impressed. I was very impressed as a matter of fact. They were old school sounding punk, that just plain kicked glass! The exact details of their sound I guess I really can't remember, but I know they were good! I would jump at the oppurtunity to see them again! Next(I think)was Self Serve. I like Self Serve's sound a whole lot too. They're barely melodic, fun to listen to, and rilly, rilly fast! They played every song they had in about thirty minutes! But,this is not an indicator that they only have two or three songs, it just goes to show ya',they're rilly friggin' fast! And by being the hyperactive little child that I am,I like fast, and I like it alot. OK,Self Serve rocked,Fido's Revenge rocked, next up(I think)were The Indigints. I know most of The Indigints stuff really well. I could sing along to most of their songs. Like always,The Indigints ruled! Every song they played still kicked butt. The crowd got really into The Indigints too. This, however, did become a problem. You remember the fifty jocks that I mentioned, right? Well, they took this oppurtunity to start beating the crap out of the kids who just wanted to have fun. I was one of those happy slam-dancin' kids. I got pissed. So did about ten of my slam-dancin' friends. When the jocks tried rushin' us again,we beat them back. They didn't try to attack any more that night:) The Indigints ruled. So next up was Premonition. I guess their versions of everything were OK,but not near as good as the original artists. Why do I use terms like "their versions" and "original artists"? BECAUSE ALL THEY DID WAS COVERS OF CLASSIC ROCK SONGS AND THE MISFITS!!! Well, the last band I saw is probably one of the best bands in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. VINAGER! These dudes were the real thing! It was just pure hardcore! Punk riffs were played so fast, and vocals were so loud, violent, strong and deep that it hardly seemed like punk. But there was an aura around the band which made them punky sounding still. Vinager blasted my expectations. If you ever get the chance to hear any of these bands, hear 'em,please! They all kicked grass! Oh,and one "odd" thing.... Of all the bands that played, only one said they were Christian. That also happened to be the one which didn't have their set incredibly effected(if not ended)by technical difficulties. Well, that's all for this gig. -Bobo Fett
